After a 19-year break, Tusenmanna returned in style at ChessParty 2026. The classic Stockholm tournament once again brought hundreds of players together around a simple idea: everyone should have a chance, regardless of age, experience or playing strength.
Now it’s time for Tusenmanna 2.0.
The tournament’s time handicap gives higher-rated players less time on the clock and their opponents more. For 2027, a new rating class for players rated 2500 and above will make the challenge even tougher for the strongest players. Following advice from leading grandmasters, these players will receive just 30 seconds against their opponent’s 23 minutes and 30 seconds in the most uneven matchups. That gives more participants a real chance to upset one of the favourites.
There’s more to win, too. The cash prize fund has increased to SEK 120,000, including SEK 55,000 for the winner. There will also be special prizes for second- and third-place finishers in each semifinal section, plus two prize draws awarding a SEK 2,500 gift card each.
