Anna vs Odin: The Final Showdown

We’re excited to announce that Anna Cramling and Odin Blikra Vea will settle the score at ChessParty 2027! With one victory each, their rivalry is heading for a deciding showdown at Stockholmsmässan on April 23–24.

Anna versus Odin

The road to that showdown begins at DreamHack Stockholm this autumn. Anna and Odin will play blitz games against the public, with their results directly influencing how much time each player will have on the clock when they face off at ChessParty.

That puts you right in the middle of the rivalry. Challenge Anna or Odin at DreamHack, and your game could help shape their next showdown. Before they settle the score with each other, they have to face you.

Anna and Odin have known each other since Anna was a child, with their families sharing countless encounters on the Gibraltar chess circuit. They have plenty of history together. Now they have a score to settle.

Odin won their first match at the TakeTakeTake studio in Oslo in December 2024, taking the bragging rights with a 3½–2½ victory. When they met again at Stockholm’s Svarta Hästen in May 2026, Anna delivered an emphatic response: 5½–½.

Odin avoided a complete whitewash with a single draw. Even that half-point was a narrow escape. Anna had a winning position, but the Norwegian escaped through repetition.

Perhaps Odin had grown a little too comfortable with his previous victory. Perhaps he underestimated how much Anna’s game had developed with two grandmasters in her corner. Whatever the explanation, Stockholm gave him plenty to think about.

Now he returns with wounded pride and a fierce appetite for revenge. Anna, meanwhile, has every reason to make sure the Norwegian leaves Stockholm disappointed once again.

The ratings favour Odin. Recent form favours Anna. He has already proved he can beat her; she has shown how far she has come since. Neither can take victory for granted.

Both players bring years of competitive experience and a deep understanding of each other’s game. Familiar habits become targets, and a surprise in preparation could make all the difference. With thousands of eyes following every move, their nerve will be tested alongside their chess. Victory will taste sweeter. Defeat will be much harder to forget.

Grandmasters Pia Cramling and David Howell will guide the audience through the showdown. With Anna’s mother and one of Norway’s most recognisable chess voices on commentary, expect sharp analysis, entertaining exchanges and plenty of national pride in the commentary booth too.

Come and cheer Anna on as she defends her bragging rights and Sweden’s honour. Odin is coming to spoil the party.

Be there for the deciding showdown at ChessParty, Stockholmsmässan, April 23–24, 2027.
