Peter Doggers

Peter Doggers is a Dutch chess journalist, author, and one of the leading voices in modern chess media.

He is currently Director of News and Events at Chess.com, where he oversees coverage of major tournaments and developments in the global chess scene. Doggers joined the company in 2013 following the acquisition of ChessVibes, the influential news and video platform he founded in 2007.

Over more than two decades in chess journalism, he has interviewed many of the game’s most important figures, including Garry Kasparov and Magnus Carlsen. Known for his sharp analysis and deep knowledge of the game, he has been a central figure in documenting chess’s transition into the digital era.

In 2024, Doggers published his first book, The Chess Revolution: From the Ancient World to the Digital Age, an ambitious exploration of the game’s history and its modern global resurgence.

Alongside his journalistic work, he remains an active player, reaching a peak FIDE rating of 2292 and earning two International Master norms.

At ChessParty, Peter Doggers will take part in a live talkshow hosted by Victoria Larm and Christer Sturmark, alongside Isabella Löwengrip.

Bringing his perspective as one of the most experienced journalists in the chess world, he offers unique insights into how the game has evolved – from its historical roots to its current global boom.

His perspective connects the past, present, and future of chess – making him a natural voice in conversations about where the game is heading.
