Henrik Carlsen is a Norwegian chess enthusiast and experienced player, best known as the father of Magnus Carlsen. He is an ambassador and co-owner of ChessParty.
Henrik introduced Magnus to chess and supported his development from a curious child to World Champion. Through years of tournaments, travel and shared experiences, he followed one of the most remarkable journeys in chess history from a parent’s perspective.
At the heart of that support was a simple principle: motivation had to come from within. Together with his late wife, Sigrun Øen, Henrik encouraged Magnus to explore chess through his own curiosity and enjoyment. Their approach gave him the freedom to develop at his own pace, make his own choices and take ownership of his ambitions.
