Anastasia Sorokina

Anastasia Sorokina is a Woman International Master, International Arbiter, FIDE Trainer, and one of the leading figures in global chess development today.

Born into a chess family as the niece of legendary grandmaster Vladimir Kupreichik, she began playing at a very young age and has since built a career that spans competitive play, coaching, organisation, and international leadership.

After moving to Australia in 2003, Sorokina worked extensively as a coach, helping develop young players through organisations such as the Queensland School of Chess and Chess Kids in Melbourne. Over time, her focus expanded beyond individual training to shaping chess on a broader scale.

She has held multiple key roles within the international chess community, including Chief and Deputy Arbiter at several Chess Olympiads, FIDE Grand Prix events, and numerous top-level tournaments. Her deep experience across all levels of the game has made her a highly respected figure within FIDE.

Since 2022, Sorokina has served as Chair of the FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess, where she leads global efforts to promote women’s participation and development in the game.

She is also the project leader behind important initiatives such as Infinite Chess, supporting children with autism spectrum disorder, and Chess for Protection – Girls Club, focused on refugees and inclusion through chess.

At ChessParty, Anastasia Sorokina brings a powerful perspective on how chess can create opportunity, inclusion, and positive change across borders and communities.
